Dave Hayden reported that even though turnout was slightly lighter than anticipated (due to overcast skies), they still had a very successful day with over $42,000 raised for Chase Galea and his therapy for Quad Cerebral Palsy. Thanks everyone for your support and to the Rotary Club of Georgetown for their generous sponsorship of this event!

We were honoured to have District Governor Patsy Marshall visit our club this past Friday.
Patsy's message:
AUGUST is MEMBERSHIP and EXTENSION MONTH
For most clubs and the District, membership growth is a priority in the coming year. Our goal over the next two years is to grow District 7080 to 2000+ members which will require a net increase of approximately 200 Rotarians, or 2-3 members per club per year.
There is no magical method to achieving growth in membership. The most important thing each of us can do is to make sure we “ask” family, friends and business associates if they would like to become involved in supporting our activities in the local and international communities, by joining Rotary. Many club meetings during the summer are more informal, BBQ’s etc., which provide a great opportunity to invite non-Rotarians to attend and learn about the activities and projects that your club does in your community.
I also urge you to hold “Rotary Days” by participating in community events during the summer and displaying the great projects that your club has done, or is currently doing, especially in your local community.
Extension also includes continued support of existing Interact and Rotaract clubs, as well as involving Youth Exchange students and their parents from your club, or other area clubs, who have returned from their exchange year. Invite them to speak at your club meeting and by including the parents you are introducing your club to great ambassadors of Rotary.
What a pleasure it has been to visit, and to give my official District Governor address to half of the clubs in District 7080. My husband, Jim, (he has joined me on more than half of the visits) and I have been given a cordial welcome and it is amazing how many additional, wonderful Rotarians and their spouses, we have had the pleasure to meet. I look forward to completing more visits in August and September, with only one left for December 2nd.
My DG address focuses on our theme and goals (To support and strengthen clubs, to promote humanitarian service through The Rotary Foundation, to enjoy fellowship and fun, to conduct profitable and engaging fundraisers, to enhance our public image, and to continue our efforts to eradicate polio). In addition, I conduct a survey to assess if your club is high performing using the acronym PERFORM. The District Conference is promoted and Rotarians are encouraged to attend and to join District committees (much interest has been expressed).
The responsibility of District Executives, Assistant Governors, District Chairs, DG, DGE and DGN is to provide support, or act as a resource, to the clubs. Please do not hesitate to ask any of us for assistance as we work together to LIGHT UP ROTARY.
